Wedding Photography | Dedham, Essex | Cherie and Eric
Cherie and Eric were married at Maison Talbooth, Dedham, Essex on one of the hottest days of the year. Just right for a poolside reception, garden party and evening barbecue!
The couple had asked me to become their wedding photographer as they wanted to feel relaxed on the day. The documentary style is just right for allowing the day to progress without direction from the photographer.
Here is a small selection from the day:
The bridal preparations took place in one of the suites at Maison Talbooth. Here the mother of the bride and mother of the groom share their excitement.
Beautiful hair and make up by Gail Gardner
The girls were actually getting changed in a different room, so with Eric already at the hotel it was a quick dash upstairs with lookouts posted at every turn!
It was a glorious day for the short walk down to the pool house where champagne was served and where the speeches took place.
Although most of the day was covered in reportage style, I always suggest that we spend some time taking informal portraits of the bride and groom. Rather than it feeling like a disruption to the day, most couples enjoy having a little time away from the throng.
After some delicious food served out on the lawn, it was time for the dancing to begin. I love this shot of Cherie and her dad.
And of course the bride and groom’s first dance.

Pre wedding photography | Hampstead | London
I was very excited when Dan and Judith invited me down to Hampstead in London for their pre wedding shoot. I will be their wedding photographer when they get married in Suffolk next month.
Dan proposed on Hampstead Heath, so thought it would be nice to have some photos of the two of them there.
I felt like Country Mouse being back in London again. I used to live there about 500 years ago, but I always lived in the Sarf and didn’t often venture north of the river! It was a scorching day and the Heath was very busy. We managed to find some space though and had a lovely time.
Pink Summer Carnival Tour at Portman Road, Ipswich
Live photos of Pink playing Portman Road, Ipswich on June 29th 2010 as part of the Summer Carnival Tour 2010
I was thrilled to receive a photopass for the Pink gig at Portman Road, Ipswich last night. I was shooting for Heart FM and a selection of photos are on their website.
It was very difficult to shoot as there were so many restrictions placed upon us, not least being only allowed a song and a half in which to capture our images!
Pink makes a grand entrance being hoisted high above the stadium in a box from which she drops half way through the first song.
Here are some of my favourites from the evening:
I think this one is my personal favourite:

Baby Photography | Witnesham | Ipswich | Suffolk
I received a text from my next door neighbour whilst I was away in Madrid last week saying that one of her friends had arranged a photoshoot for 14 babies in Christmas outfits, but their photographer could no longer do it and would I like to step in. Fourteen babies? That’s mad, Ted. So I said yes, I’d do it!
So on Sunday morning I went out to the lovely village of Witnesham, just north of Ipswich in Suffolk. The session took place in one of the Mums’ houses and there were ‘only’ ten babies. I used my portable studio equipment to take photos of them individually in their Christmas outfits and then in their posh clothes and then, I managed, somehow, with much singing, cooing and bribing with snacks, to get a group shot of them all.
May I present to you, the Witnesham Babes….
I just love this shot. I wish I knew what she was thinking.
I just get the feeling she’s bound for the stage!
This smart fella had a second costume change
and became much more laid back. Why do I think of Grease when I see this photo?
I last photographed this young man when he was 4 days old
And all together…
If you’d like to arrange a baby photography session, either on your won or with a group of friends, just give me a call or send me an email. There are just a few slots before Christmas remaining.
Lisa and Alasdair | Henley Manor Farm | Ipswich | Suffolk
What a lovely day this was! A perfect late October day in sunny Suffolk. Here are some of my favourites from the wedding.
The dress
Bridal preparations at home
I think the word is ‘resplendent!’
Bridal portrait before the ceremony
The lighting conditions inside the barn are pretty tricky but using available light rather than flash has kept the images very natural and was much less intrusive
The muted autumnal colours made a lovely backdrop
After the ceremony Lisa and Alasdair went for a short drive
And came back ready for the party!
I love moments like this
This little lad was great. I asked him if he’d like to stand where I was to take a group shot and he said “No thanks, I’m fine here.”
I don’t like the ‘formals’ to be too formal. I think they mean more when there is a bit of life to them, even if they don’t look like the traditional line ups
Lisa’s gorgeous daughters – fabulous bridesmaids!
A bit of bridal tickling
The bouquet posing for its own photo
This one breaks just about every rule, but I like it
Beautiful mother of the groom
The ushers. No not really, just a bunch of characters hanging around outside
Newborn baby photography
This is my youngest client so far. He was four days old and doesn’t even have a name yet!
I had planned to photograph him using available light, but it was a very gloomy Sunday afternoon and there just wasn’t any! It was fairly easy to set up my portable studio kit though.
Being so young, he hadn’t established any sort of feeding routine, so we stopped frequently for milk breaks. This is the beauty of me coming to your house or you coming to mine. There is no time pressure and I’m quite happy to go and put the kettle on.
I just can’t resist the feet!
If I don’t have a wedding on a Saturday, I like to watch Jeff Stelling whilst knitting, and here are the fruits of my labour (the hat.)
And another.
Newborn photography sessions are priced at £25 and can take place either at your home or you are welcome to come to me. Prints start from £15 and I also have a wide range of frames, canvases and albums.
