Wedding Photography | Dedham, Essex | Cherie and Eric
Cherie and Eric were married at Maison Talbooth, Dedham, Essex on one of the hottest days of the year. Just right for a poolside reception, garden party and evening barbecue!
The couple had asked me to become their wedding photographer as they wanted to feel relaxed on the day. The documentary style is just right for allowing the day to progress without direction from the photographer.
Here is a small selection from the day:
The bridal preparations took place in one of the suites at Maison Talbooth. Here the mother of the bride and mother of the groom share their excitement.
Beautiful hair and make up by Gail Gardner
The girls were actually getting changed in a different room, so with Eric already at the hotel it was a quick dash upstairs with lookouts posted at every turn!
It was a glorious day for the short walk down to the pool house where champagne was served and where the speeches took place.
Although most of the day was covered in reportage style, I always suggest that we spend some time taking informal portraits of the bride and groom. Rather than it feeling like a disruption to the day, most couples enjoy having a little time away from the throng.
After some delicious food served out on the lawn, it was time for the dancing to begin. I love this shot of Cherie and her dad.
And of course the bride and groom’s first dance.

Maternity Photography in Ipswich Suffolk
It’s time to catch up on some blogging, and to start with, I am showing some beautiful pregnancy photography. Whilst I take many more and varied images during the session, I respect my clients’ privacy and only post the images they are happy to have on show.
These pregnancy photoshoots take place in the client’s own home using natural light. This means that the expectant mother is comfortable and relaxed.
I especially love this image as you can see a little foot as the baby decides to have a bit of a stretch.
It’s a lovely record of a very special time in a woman’s life and many clients choose an enlargement for their bedroom or the nursery, or select several images for an album.
The expectant father is welcome to join in.
Please contact me to book your maternity photography session or to enquire about the bump and baby package.
New baby!
Congratulations to Paul and Kathryn, for whom I did a lovely maternity photo shoot last week.
They let me know yesterday that they are now proud parents of a beautiful baby girl, so we were just in the nick of time!
I’m looking forward to seeing them again for their newborn photography session

…are coming to interview me today, which should be fun. I think we will mostly be talking about Trash the Dress photography, which is one of the services I offer, and which I love doing.
I’ll let you know how it goes and when it will be in print.
I also have lots more to blog as I’ll been really busy over the last few weeks.

I was so pleased to photograph this gorgeous little girl as a birthday present for her mother.
I took my lighting kit with me and started with some studio-style portraits. She is such a smiley little character with beautiful eyes.

I love this shot of mother and daughter.
We then headed out into the garden for some natural shots in the lovely autumn morning
Please contact me if you would like to book a studio session in your own home of some lifestyle photography in the great outdoors, or even both like we did here!
Trash the Dress Photography in Essex And Suffolk
Well this was fun! I photographed Sarah’s wedding back in April and during the reception I overheard her talking with her friends about how it was a shame you only got to wear such a lovely dress for one day. I suggested a trash the dress photoshoot which first of all provoked looks of horror, but then I explained that when I’ve done it previously I’ve thought of it more as ‘cherish the dress.’ I’ve treated it more of a fashion shoot, accessorising and going to unusual locations rather than paintballing or pig farming in it! This was much more appealing as they had thought about having a night in with their dresses on. And so the seed was sown.
So on a beautiful late summer morning I met the four brides in the car park of The Boathouse at Dedham

First of all we headed into the meadows

Then the girls hired a boat from The Boathouse

They did of course attract some attention from passers by.

The girls then set off on what turned out to be rather a long walk, along the river to have lunch at Milsoms. I just found this really funny.

If you have any ideas for a trash the dress, or cherish the dress photo shoot, either on your own or with friends then I’d love to hear about them. Session cost £25, with prints, albums and DVDs available. Give me a call or drop me a line to book yours.
Emily and Steve’s Wedding at Maison Talbooth, Essex, UK
I love hearing about clients’ plans for their wedding day. There is so much scope nowadays with venues, themes, entertainment and so on. I met Emily and Steve for a pre-wedding consultation at Maison Talbooth and was very interested to discover that their wedding would be for just ten people, including themselves.
I attended Emily’s house near Colchester for the bridal preparations.
but not neglecting the grandfather preparations!
It doesn’t matter that you’re the father of the bride, if you’re expecting guests back in the evening, there are chores to be done.
After a short ride in an enormous Rolls Royce, we arrived at the beautiful Maison Talbooth overlooking Dedham Vale. As it was such a small wedding, there was a very relaxed atmosphere, with the guests sitting on armchairs and sofas. Steve’s father provided the entertainment while they waited for Emily to arrive.
Emily was given away by her father and grandfather
I love the expressions on the girls faces here
After the ceremony there was time for group photos and a stroll in the grounds
We then headed off to Le Talbooth restaurant, a short distance away, for lunch.
There is obviously a very special bond between Emily and her grandfather, and I think this photo sums it up.
A lovely day, and I wish them every happiness.
