Trash the Dress shoot for the BBC – Sneak Peek!

A couple of weeks ago on a glorious winter’s morning in Felixstowe, I was filmed byt the BBC, shooting a Trash the Dress, or as I prefer, Rock the Frock session. I had received an email from the producer of Inside Out asking me if I could arrange a shoot to be featured in a programme about wedding dresses which is due to be shown in the East on February 14th. With not much time to plan, I set about finding a bride, a location, a hair and make-up artist and accessories! I had an idea of the look I wanted to achieve, which had to be modified slightly owing to the time of year and suitability of location! I had had a tentative enquiry before Christmas from the husband of a summer bride who was desperate to wear her wedding dress again so I contacted them and after some explanation and assurance that we wouldn’t actually ruin the dress, Sarah agreed to be my model. I am so grateful to her for stepping out of her comfort zone and adopting a ‘let’s go for it’ attitude. She looked fantastic. Thank you to Andrea Windell for the fabulous hair and make up.

I shall post more images and information just before the programme goes out. Eeek!

Trash the Dress Photography in Essex And Suffolk

Well this was fun! I photographed Sarah’s wedding back in April and during the reception I overheard her talking with her friends about how it was a shame you only got to wear such a lovely dress for one day. I suggested a trash the dress photoshoot which first of all provoked looks of horror, but then I explained that when I’ve done it previously I’ve thought of it more as ‘cherish the dress.’ I’ve treated it more of a fashion shoot, accessorising and going to unusual locations rather than paintballing or pig farming in it! This was much more appealing as they had thought about having a night in with their dresses on. And so the seed was sown.

So on a beautiful late summer morning I met the four brides in the car park of The Boathouse at Dedham

First of all we headed into the meadows

Then the girls hired a boat from The Boathouse

They did of course attract some attention from passers by.

The girls then set off on what turned out to be rather a long walk, along the river to have lunch at Milsoms. I just found this really funny.
