Truly Vintage Wedding Fair – Glemham Hall, Suffolk

Last weekend I was delighted to be exhibiting at the first Truly Vintage Wedding Fair at the stunning wedding venue, Glemham Hall in Suffolk. Donna Stockley had worked incredibly hard in planning this unique event, gathering together many inspiring wedding suppliers and reaching out to brides to be both locally and nationally.

The weather was beautiful which showed the Hall in all its glory and brought a very pleasing number of visitors. It was great to meet so many couples at various stages of their wedding planning and to show them my albums and portfolio. I hope to be seeing them again in the future.

I didn’t get much chance to take photos as it was so busy I was practically tethered to my stand (mustn’t keep calling it a stall!) but here are a few which I managed to grab.

Just in the nick of time and thanks largely to my clever son, Jack, I thought I’d share with you some of my favourite images from 2010. It’s been a fabulous year, and just making this slideshow has brought back so many happy memories.

I’d like to thank all of my wonderful clients this year, my family and friends for their support, and I look forward to lots of new experiences in 2011. Happy New Year everyone

Running is good for the Soul (if not the knees)

This Sunday morning, at a time I’m not usually aware of, I will be lining up to take part in the Wimbledon 10k race with other top wedding photographers Julia Boggio and her husband James Derbyshire, and Alex Whittle. We will be raising money for the Soul Society, an organisation founded by Jerry Ghionis, widely acknowledged as one of the world’s best wedding photographers, and Melissa Tirado, also a wedding photographer, from Boston in the US.

Whilst it’s not a sponsored event as such, it would be great if you would check out the Soul Society’s website, and if you like what you see, make a donation on our behalf.

I went back into training after we came back from holiday in Egypt. I’m useless at running in the summer. I’m much more of a poor-weather runner – give me hailstones or sleet any day! Living in the east of Suffolk though, the thought of running up Wimbledon Hill fills me with a certain amount of dread. The nearest I get to a hill is running out of the subway!

I’ll let you know how we get on!

John Frusciante leaves the Red Hot Chili Peppers

He announced on his blog yesterday that he had, in fact, left the band a year ago but that there was no animosity. He is a rare soul, an incredibly gifted musician, artistic and creative and somehow other worldly. His solo work is unusual and beautiful and I’m looking forward to hearing more of that.

I’m not sure what direction the Chili Peppers will now take although they are saying they will continue with a new guitarist.

This does give me an opportunity to post one of my favourite ever shots I took this in Hyde Park in June 2005 on a beautiful summer evening. This is a scan from black and white film and I have a print hanging in my living room.
