Baby Photography | Witnesham | Ipswich | Suffolk
I received a text from my next door neighbour whilst I was away in Madrid last week saying that one of her friends had arranged a photoshoot for 14 babies in Christmas outfits, but their photographer could no longer do it and would I like to step in. Fourteen babies? That’s mad, Ted. So I said yes, I’d do it!
So on Sunday morning I went out to the lovely village of Witnesham, just north of Ipswich in Suffolk. The session took place in one of the Mums’ houses and there were ‘only’ ten babies. I used my portable studio equipment to take photos of them individually in their Christmas outfits and then in their posh clothes and then, I managed, somehow, with much singing, cooing and bribing with snacks, to get a group shot of them all.
May I present to you, the Witnesham Babes….
I just love this shot. I wish I knew what she was thinking.
I just get the feeling she’s bound for the stage!
This smart fella had a second costume change
and became much more laid back. Why do I think of Grease when I see this photo?
I last photographed this young man when he was 4 days old
And all together…
If you’d like to arrange a baby photography session, either on your won or with a group of friends, just give me a call or send me an email. There are just a few slots before Christmas remaining.
Lisa and Alasdair | Henley Manor Farm | Ipswich | Suffolk
What a lovely day this was! A perfect late October day in sunny Suffolk. Here are some of my favourites from the wedding.
The dress
Bridal preparations at home
I think the word is ‘resplendent!’
Bridal portrait before the ceremony
The lighting conditions inside the barn are pretty tricky but using available light rather than flash has kept the images very natural and was much less intrusive
The muted autumnal colours made a lovely backdrop
After the ceremony Lisa and Alasdair went for a short drive
And came back ready for the party!
I love moments like this
This little lad was great. I asked him if he’d like to stand where I was to take a group shot and he said “No thanks, I’m fine here.”
I don’t like the ‘formals’ to be too formal. I think they mean more when there is a bit of life to them, even if they don’t look like the traditional line ups
Lisa’s gorgeous daughters – fabulous bridesmaids!
A bit of bridal tickling
The bouquet posing for its own photo
This one breaks just about every rule, but I like it
Beautiful mother of the groom
The ushers. No not really, just a bunch of characters hanging around outside
Pre wedding shoot | Aldeburgh | Suffolk
It’s almost a year since I first met Hannah and Adam and they asked me to be their wedding photographer, so it was great to get together again for their pre-wedding shoot and to find out a bit more about their wedding day. We met for coffee and a chat at the Brudenell Hotel in Aldeburgh, then headed out onto the beach.

I’m really looking forward to the wedding next month at Hintlesham Hall, which will be all Christmassy!
Bright dancing | Photography | Ipswich | Suffolk
If you are watching X Factor at the moment, you will more than likely be aware of ‘bright dancing.’ It’s basically a way of painting in the air with a bright light source. I wanted to have a go at producing some still images using the technique so I ventured out into the garden on Halowe’en with my equipment and some reasonably co-operative children. We didn’t have long as it became very damp and I was concerned about the moisture in the air. I was very pleased with the results though.
Here are a couple of different effects:
This one I wanted to resemble ectoplasm
And this one I wanted with some girly colours (she is in her Hallowe’en costume by the way, she doesn’t look like this for school)
I am thinking of arranging some evening sessions in the Ipswich area for anyone who would like their own bright dancing photo. They make great facebook profile pics. There won’t be a session fee, and I will be offering digital downloads and prints.
Please contact me by email if you are interested and I will let you know when I have the sessions arranged.
